The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in partnership with Liceo de Cagayan University and Pasundayag Community Arts is implementing a project "Pagpasundayag sa Sinaunang Baybayin" which is a series of activities from a workshop facilitated by Emil Yap, expert on the Sinaunang Baybayin (The Ancient Filipino Writing, famously coined as Alibata. BaiBayin or Baybayi is a system or way of writing of our Filipino Ancestors. This started from the root word "Baybay or BaiBai" that means spelling or tracing. The Sinaunang Baybayin is not based on the Doctrina Christiana that was spread by our colonizers.);

The show performance entitled: "Baybayin" (In english meaning: Shore) is a mélange of multi-Art disciplines basing everything from the research on Sinaunang Baybayin. It's a collaboration of work by local Kagay-anon Artists. From Oro Arts guild, Michael Bacol; From Next Moves, Arnie Jumao-as and Feliz Ugalde and their choreographer Roger Odron; From Dulaang Atenista current members, Jc Salon, Angelo Dabbay, Franz Lacson and Dandy Tan; Dulaang Atenista Almuni Alvin Adaza, Ethyl Malachico, Dr. Reynards Tan and Denise Mordeno Aguilar, who conceptualized this project and is also the current Artistic Director of Pasundayag Community Arts founded by Mozart A.T. Pastrano in 1997. The production soundscape design is by a Veteran Kagay-anon Musician, Drue Dahonpalay. The production is stage managed by Ritche Riveral of Race Entertainment.

The main mission of this project is "Exploring the past thru Sinaunang Baybayin and creating a future using it for performance." On Oct 7, 2016 at Rodelsa Hall. With the options of Matinee at 3PM and Gala at 8PM. Be prepared to be taken aback by the group's version of the Creation Story; The introduction of the 2 major Sinaunang Baybayin Script expressed in an ensemble performance; The individual identities of the artists involved and their body articulation of the Baybayin; The theatrical utterance of the games, contrasting difference between the children before and the generation of children today. So it's a show and a learning experience for the audience. A devised piece created for everyone. After all, culture is inclusive.

10:44 AM 0 Comments A+ a-

Each year, photographers around the world gather on the same day to explore, photograph, share photos with one another, make new friend, and be a part of a great cause. This year, Scott Kelby announces the official date of his highly anticipated 9th Annual Worldwide Photo Walk™, the world’s largest photo walk! The event is happening Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 in thousands of cities all over the world.

The Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk, dubbed the world’s largest global and social photography event, has grown immensely in size and popularity since the inaugural walk in 2007. Last year (2015), more than 25,000 photographers of all walks of life and skill level converged to explore their corners of the world through photography and social community.

The concept of a Photo Walk is simple. Photo Walks are created by Walk Leaders in cities all over the world. Walkers meet up at a pre-designated location – downtown areas, zoos, business parks, you name it! – to spend a few hours socializing, capturing images and sharing with like-minded people. At the end of the photo walk, most groups convene at local restaurants or taverns to share their images and experiences over food.

This year, Cagayan de Oro City, Northern Mindanao, Philippines will be joining the worldwide photo walk once again led by Clement Dampal II, a Diversified Lensman based in the city who served as the Official Photo Walk Leader last 2015. In Cagayan de Oro Northern Mindanao Leg, the Photo Walk aims to promote the city itself from heritage to tourism, infrastructure to growth, and its people on a daily activity and provides opportunities to the participants to actively engage in programs and activities promoting the quality of life. It will start at Plaza delos Heroes, Divisoria around 7 in the morning on the said date.

Some of the areas/structures to be covered for CDO NorthMin Leg includes the City Museum (Water Tower), Casa Real (City Hall), Lourdes College, Plaza Divisoria, Kalye del Mar (Don Apolinar Velez Street), JR Borja Street, Cogon Market, Carmen Market, Bulua Westbound Terminal, Opol Beach.

Photographers joining the photowalk are requested to bring the following:
-Digital Single Lens Reflex/Translucent cameras, and/or Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens cameras
-Point-and-Shoot camera owners are also welcome to join
-A good tripod
-Extra shirt
-Bottled water
-Pocket money

In addition to the event, photo walkers will be able to upload their favorite picture to our popular Photo Walk contest for a chance to win a 1-year membership to www.kelbyone.com, a DSLR, gift cards, apps, camera bags and more. We will also name a Grand Prize winner and 10 finalists to be selected by Scott Kelby himself!

The event is free, but pre-registration is required and is limited to 50 participants only. Register at www.worldwidephotowalk.com, locate your city and complete the free sign up form.

Additionally, participants can connect socially before, during and after the event using the hashtag #WWPW2016 hash tag on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Novuhair Supports Alopecia Areata Awareness in Celebrating Inner Strength

September marks the month-long commemoration of Alopecia Areata awareness worldwide. Alopecia areata is a condition when hair loss occur due to faults in the immune system attacking the hair follicles which results in partial or total loss of hair on the head and other parts of the body.

Leading this year’s celebration in the country is Alopecia Philippines, a group founded by singer and songwriter Abby Asistio in 2012. She has been championing the cause of empowering citizens with this condition.

Abby is no stranger to alopecia, having been diagnosed with alopecia areata since she was four years old. Abby’s decision to come out in public with her condition was a major turning point in her life.

On September 2012, Abby decided to start an online campaign in time with Alopecia Awareness Month by inviting family and friends to pose with the double “A” (inverted “V”) sign using their fingers on the photo sharing site, Instagram. It quickly caught on and Abby was overwhelmed by the response from netizens, with over a thousand photo contributions to date.

This paved the way for the beginnings of Alopecia Philippines. It aims to raise awareness about alopecia and correct common misconceptions and perceptions about it, provide encouragement to people afflicted with it, and create an online support community for them.

Inspired by Abby’s honesty and courage, men and women, kids and teens from different walks of life began sharing their own stories and struggles living with alopecia. What started out as a group of ten is now more than 300 members strong and its Facebook page – Alopecia Areata Awareness, draws followers from all over the world.

Novuhair has been supporting the cause for Alopecia Philippines through Abby Asistio. Abby have been using the brand continuously since March 2013 and she has only praises to share using the product.
